SEACURE Open Call for Associated Regions
The SEACURE Open Call is funding up to seven Public Authorities with up to €100,000 each to empower regions facing similar nutrient-pollution challenges in the Mediterranean basin and beyond. The aim is to strengthen their capacity to replicate the innovative solutions developed within the SEACURE project and tackle nutrient pollution.

New publication! 'Rough estimate of the soil protection potential of the CAP Strategic Plans over the 2023-2027 period'
A new report has been published by the European Evaluation Helpdesk for the CAP and estimates how the current CAP Strategic Plans contribute to protecting Europe’s soils. Covering 13 countries and six key soil health indicators, the study offers an innovative, replicable method to support future CAP design and evaluation.

Call for experts input to assess the cost effectiveness of soil biodiversity indicators
The Mission Soil-funded project, SOB4ES is inviting experts to contribute to the assessment of the cost effectiveness of soil biodiversity indicators. The project team developed two surveys to gather insights from key stakeholders, including land managers, researchers, policy makers, industry representatives, retailers, and advisors. The SOB4ES team has already collected cost estimates from all SOB4ES partners involved in the field sampling for the whole range of indicators sampled – now they are looking for input from key stakeholders to assess the “effectiveness”-side of soil biodiversity structural indicators.

Call for expert input on soil function models
The Mission Soil-funded project, BENCHMARKS, is inviting experts to contribute to the evaluation of four soil function models developed under the project. These models are based on the concept that soil functions result from bundles of soil processes that co-occur in time and space, and can be defined either by measuring process rates directly or by using proxy indicators.

The EU Agri-Food Days return to Brussels for their third edition from 15 to 17 December 2025, bringing together stakeholders from across the European agri-food sector. This year’s discussions will focus on food security, resilience and innovation, exploring how the proposed CAP post-2027, strategic research and innovation, and digital transformation can strengthen Europe’s agricultural future. An exhibition will highlight EU-funded projects, data portals and funding opportunities. Online participation will also be possible via live web streaming – no registration needed.

Council adopts new EU soil monitoring rules
The Council has adopted the EU’s first soil monitoring directive, creating a common framework to assess and improve soil health across Europe. The Directive supports the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe,” which aims to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030.

Mission Soil Living Labs receive training to boost soil health monitoring
A training event for Mission Soil Living Labs recently took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, bringing together 18 participants and 7 trainers from across Europe. The three-day programme focused on how to identify soil health indicators at local scale, fostering collaborative learning among Living Labs and innovative approaches to sustainable land management.

Share Your Experience: SOILL-Startup Survey for Mission Soil Applicants
SOILL-Startup is inviting coordinators and participants that submitted a proposal under the Horizon Europe Mission Soil Living Lab funding opportunities to take part in a short survey. The aim is to gather first-hand feedback on the application process and the support services offered, so that together we can shape stronger guidance and tools for future applicants. Your participation is important because it will help identify the specific challenges of preparing a proposal and highlight where additional support is most needed. The results will not only improve SOILL services, but will also be shared in aggregated and anonymous form with the European Commission to ensure that your insights contribute directly to the design of future calls under the Mission Soil.
