Call for expert input on soil function models

<<<<<<< HEAD Monday, 13 October 2025 ======= Friday, 7 August 2026 >>>>>>> 44eddc3 (first commit)

The Mission Soil-funded project, BENCHMARKS, is inviting experts to contribute to the evaluation of four soil function models developed under the project. These models are based on the concept that soil functions result from bundles of soil processes that co-occur in time and space, and can be defined either by measuring process rates directly or by using proxy indicators.

The project team has already developed cognitive models for agricultural soils and is finalising forestry and urban models. The next step is to assess the importance of different soil processes across land use and climatic contexts. The results will feed into an updated, online framework to help select context-specific soil health indicators.

Experts are encouraged to contribute by completing a short questionnaire by 30 October 2025: Complete the questionnaire here

Contributions will help shape a harmonised, context-specific soil indicator framework and advance the goals of the Mission Soil.
